I have made an effort to get out and investigate the local summer basketball
camps in our area.
I evaluate camps based on three criteria:
◦ Level of instruction
◦ Level of competition
◦ Players' enjoyment
Those interested in my thoughts on camps in general, and specific camps not

The highest performing camp in our general area, in my opinion, is Steve Baker's
Five-Star Baltimore Summer Camps. I would recommend them as a first choice.

In addition, there are two local camps that score very high in level of
competition, and players' enjoyment:
Intensity Basketball at John Carroll High School
This might be my own kids' favorite camp. We have attended many sessions now,
and are very satisfied. Coach Tony Martin and the assistants he has helping run
this camp are all way above the average. There is no equal to this camp in
Harford County that I know of.

Cecil Seahawk Camp at Cecil College
This camp draws a huge turnout every year, and for good reason. Coach Bill Lewit
puts more of his own personal time and energy into instructing the kids than any
other camp I have ever seen. Not even close. Coach Lewit has moved on to a D-1
job at the University of New Orleans, but his tradition at Cecil College, and I
am sure at this camp, will be kept every bit as strong by Coach Rashad Brooks.
This camp will remain a first choice for local players, and for good reason.
